All the major mobile phone manufacturers now have touch screen technology although the ways that this is implemented, and the features offered vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Samsung's latest phone, the Samsung Jet promises improvements in both screen technology and performance speed. With an 800MHz processor, Samsung claim the Jet is the fastest full touch screen mobile on the market, packed into a compact 108.8 X 53.5 X 11.9 mm.
The screen is a large, 3.1" vivid WVGS AMOLED screen with improved resolution at four times that of other screens and is controlled by Samsung TouchWiz interface software which includes a customisable widget screen. The AMOLED technology allows bright, clear colours, with a screen that can be viewed from any angle. Because the technology does not require a backlight to make the screen visible, battery life is also improved, with the screen using up to 66% less energy than other technology.
There is a 5 megapixel camera, DivX and XviD for video viewing and a built in GPS receiver and integrated Google Maps. Web browsing is through the Samsung Dolfin mobile browser which allows multiple websites to be viewed at the same time, and includes a one finger zoom to control the Jet, and benefitting from the 800MHz processor.
As you would expect, there is a music player built in, with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack and an FM radio and texting is easy with a full QWERTY keyboard on the touch screen
The Samsung Jet promises speed and high resolution graphics, with all the features you would expect from a top end Smartphone, and should be on your list of handsets to look at when considering a new mobile.
